Quarterback

I love Jordan Travis and what he has meant for FSU football the last two years. However, I firmly believe Mike Norvell should bring in a quarterback from the transfer portal for at least 2022. If not, the Noles will go into the 2022 season with no experience behind Travis and only three scholarship quarterbacks.

Not to mention, Jordan Travis has had a history of injuries since arriving in Tallahassee. Can you trust him to go the entire season without missing any time? It’s doubtful. Can Tate Rodemaker help win games in a backup duty?

Is that a risk worth taking if you’re Mike Norvell when you have to make a bowl game in 2022? Can he afford to thrust freshman AJ Duffy into games with so much on the line? I’ve written about the benefits of bringing in a graduate transfer quarterback months ago.

Ideally, they’d bring someone in that could compete with everyone through spring practice. However, if they find a graduate transfer that doesn’t arrive until the summer?

They’d likely have some experience since they would be a graduate transfer but probably wouldn’t know the offense well enough in that short amount of time to win the starting job from Jordan Travis.

However, FSU would have depth and possibly not suffer such a huge drop-off if Jordan Travis came out of a game.
