FSU football coaches have been doing a lot of work in the transfer portal the past few weeks as the beginning of the spring semester approaches.

I wrote about the importance of getting guys to enroll in the spring so they can get acclimated with everything and gain valuable reps in spring practice.

The Noles only signed two defensive backs in the 2022 recruiting cycle but have dipped into the transfer portal for the fifth time to improve their roster.

The latest addition is former Louisville transfer defensive back Greedy Vance, who announced his commitment Tuesday via Twitter:

Vance is a former three-star recruit from the 2020 recruiting cycle, hailing from Edna Karr High School in Louisiana(same high school as Destyn Hill). He was the No. 44 cornerback nationally and checked in at 5’10 and 155 pounds.

Vance appeared in six games as a freshman and 12 as a sophomore for Louisville. He was ninth in total tackles with one tackle for a loss, and seven passes defended. At his size, I expect the coaches to use Vance in the slot and at nickel back, similar to Kevin Knowles. I’ve watched a few interviews, and I like his mindset.

He’s a young guy that plays with a chip on his shoulder with some dawg in him. He’s physical and brings experience to a secondary that should help add depth. I questioned if we would see some more attrition soon Tuesday morning, and this addition could make that happen.

Remember how I said the staff in on players they want fairly quickly when they hit the transfer portal? Vance entered the transfer portal on December 22, and less than a week later, he’s committed to FSU football.

FSU’s spring semester begins January 5, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see others join the program to take advantage of having a spring camp.

dark. Next. Can We Expect More Roster Attrition Soon?
