We have seen a mass exodus from the FSU football roster over the past year. We’ve seen 30+ players enter the transfer portal since mid-September 2020. Most fans had the misconception the roster was overly talented.

FSU football had talent on paper, with some highly ranked recruiting classes with gaping holes at certain positions. However, two transition classes, a COVID year, and a lack of development from the previous two regimes left the FSU football roster with a ton of dead weight. In other words, players that were not FSU caliber players.

One of the telling signs about the quality of players on the roster was players who declared for the draft heard their names called(or not). The other was where players who entered the transfer portal ultimately found homes.

Only seven of those 30+ players found homes at Power 5 schools, with the majority heading to places like FAU, Marshall, Jackson State, FAMU, and Troy. On the flipside, FSU football has entered the transfer portal and signed multiple players from other Power 5 schools, with several players becoming starters and instant impact guys.

Seven of the eight FSU players named All-ACC were from the transfer portal. I posted on Twitter a few weeks ago the Noles had about 15 more players that probably needed to hit the transfer portal.

About 10 or so of those players have done so. Will we see more attrition from the roster soon?
