FSU football had arguably the most memorable Early Signing Day of all time Wednesday. I don’t mean that in a good way. First, the news of Kenny Dillingham leaving for Oregon as their offensive coordinator broke.

The Noles had goals of accumulating a top 10 class after finishing 5-7 in the 2021 season. They began the day with 16 commitments, including the No. 1 player nationally in Travis Hunter Jr.

They had expectations to flip four-star defensive tackle Tyre West from Georgia and sign legacy blue-chip recruit Julian Armella.

They hoped to secure the shaky commitment of four-star wide receiver Devaughn Mortimer. They hoped to pull off an upset with legacy recruit Marvin Jones Jr. None of those things happened in the end. The first domino to fall was Tyre West flipping to Tennessee and not FSU.

UPDATE: Julian Armella commits to FSU last Wednesday night

News broke that Julian Armella planned to push back his signing until a later date. Travis Hunter Jr. shook up the college football landscape by signing with HBCU Jackson State, coached by FSU alum Deion Sanders around noon.

Devaughn Mortimer had removed all FSU related items from his Twitter bio and announced he would sign with Louisville in the 2 p.m. slot. Talk about a day to remember, but ultimately I think it will benefit the Noles in the long run. Here are three major takeaways.
