One of the running jokes in college football is how the Miami Hurricanes haven’t been serious about their football program over the last 20 years.
They are on their fifth coach since the Larry Coker era. Miami hasn’t won the ACC Conference once since joining the conference in 2004 and has only made one title game, getting destroyed 38-3 against Clemson in 2017.
However, they made waves recently with their hire of Mario Cristobal from the Oregon Ducks. They also signed Clemson’s Athletic Director, Dan Radakovich, and claimed they were serious about fully committing to their football program.
The only problem was a report that Miami took money from their faculty and profits from the COVID-19 pandemic to help pay for their new head coach:

They were going to hire Joe Brady after the Carolina Panthers fired him from their offensive coordinator role.
We’re getting Joe Brady folks.

That was until he realized there are a lot of better options out there and told them to kick rocks.
After initial momentum toward a UM/Joe Brady alliance (as reported by @MichaelRyanRuiz ,me, @ByTimReynolds ,others), Brady now prefers to remain in NFL and is exploring those options, per Adam Schefter. So UM will need to look at other OC coordinators, which the school says it is

However, one program you will find on the list is FSU, the youngest program listed. I’ve said it before, but the FSU logo is different than Florida and Miami. There’s a reason FSU games are still heavily viewed on TV:

ND-FSU (ABC): 7.8M

Alabama is arguably the most popular team in college football. Alabama opened against Miami for their 2021 opener, and that game is nowhere near the top 10 most-watched games. Miami fans will continue to talk about the money they are spending or rather robbing from their faculty and COVID profits.

However, neither are sustainable, and I’d be shocked to see the support they’re currently getting to last longer than a few years, especially if they don’t win the conference, much less make the College Football Playoffs.
