FSU football head coach Mike Norvell will have to make the first replacement(not counting TJ Rushing since he never coached a game) on his coaching staff with the news linebackers coach Chris Marve is the new defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.

We knew something was going on with Marve when he wasn’t on the recruiting trails, and FSU analyst Randy Shannon had replaced him.

Some thought his absence related to linebacker recruit Wesley Bissainthe choosing Miami over the Noles.

There could have been more going on behind the scenes, but we’ll never know the full extent of it.

In the end, Marve gets a promotion at a reputable place and will work for a head coach that coached him when he was a player at Vanderbilt.

Va Tech’s Brent Pry has several years of experience as a defensive coordinator and will likely groom a young 32-year old Chris Marve since they have a previous relationship.

So congratulations to Coach Marve, but we have to look at how this move impacts the Noles moving forward.
