When several players left FSU football during or after the 2020 season, one of the main questions from some fans was who’s going to replace all that talent? All the talent that failed to meet expectations that season or had never been contributors.

Well, Mike Norvell and the coaching staff took to the transfer portal to feel those roster needs. I think seven of the eight FSU football players making the All-ACC team being transfer players speaks volumes. Almost all of the best players on the team have transferred into the program since Mike Norvell became head coach in 2019:

  • Fabien Lovett
  • Jashaun Corbin
  • Devontay Love-Taylor
  • Jermaine Johnson
  • Keir Thomas
  • Dillan Gibbons
  • Jammie Robinson

That’s a lot of production (32 percent) of the starters, not to mention other transfers were contributors in 2021 as well.

FSU will lose Johnson, Thomas, and Love-Taylor for sure because they’ve exhausted their college eligibility. Lovett, Corbin, and Robinson could enter the NFL Draft, and Dillan Gibbons has already confirmed he’ll be back in 2022. Other roster needs need addressing via the portal, and the coaching staff is already working to solidify those positions.

Here are my top five positional needs the staff must address via the transfer portal.
