Miami’s offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee seems to have options that could cause more headaches for the Miami Hurricanes.

Head coach Manny Diaz has been on the hot seat all season after failing to meet expectations(albeit unrealistic ones). Miami began the season with a blowout loss to Alabama, as expected, and didn’t win a game against a Power 5 opponent until a one-point win over NC State in week seven.

The Hurricanes rallied to win their next two games before suffering the loss against FSU football that put that fanbase completely over the edge.

Lashlee was the offensive coordinator/QB coach at SMU before comiing to Miami. Check out the report below.

The problem wasn’t the offense, as Rhett Lashlee’s offense put up big numbers once Tyler Van Dyke took over the starting job for D’Eriq King. The problem was Manny Diaz’s defense featuring undisciplined players and allowing explosive plays through the air and on the ground.

Miami fired Athletic Director Blake James, and the thought was Manny Diaz would be the next in line for firing.

However, Florida fired their head coach Dan Mullen after their upset loss against Missouri, and that move pushed Miami further down the list of desired places to be a head coach. LSU, USC, and now Florida are in the market and will likely have first dibs.

Manny Diaz could remain with Miami if whoever they hire as the athletic director sees fit. However, if that’s the case, Diaz might have to hire a new offensive coordinator if Rhett Lashlee were to take the SMU job.
