FSU football is in a position nobody could have predicted about nine weeks ago when the Noles were winless and staring at the possibility of winning 1-2 games maximum.

Miami and Florida entered the season with preseason rankings, and it looked as though the road to retaking the throne had no end in sight. However, FSU began to find itself under head coach Mike Norvell, and Miami and Florida began to falter.

It wasn’t long before Miami and Florida were in the same boat as the Noles despite rosters with better talent. FSU beat the odds and took down the Hurricanes and are now staring at a bowl bid with a win over the Florida Gators this week.

Florida decided to fire Dan Mullen after an overtime loss against Missouri Saturday night. There was smoke a few weeks ago before Mullen moved to fire his offensive and defensive coordinators. So the firing didn’t come as a total surprise after the Missouri loss.

Miami could be in a position to fire Manny Diaz after this week’s game as well. The perception was FSU is the program on the way up, with both rivals looking shaky. However, Florida decided to fire Mullen, likely expediting that move regardless of if the Noles win Saturday’s game or not.

A Nole win would be optimal obviously, but here’s a couple of ways the firing of Dan Mullen impacts the Noles.
