FSU football: 3 takeaways from ‘Noles loss against NC State
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football didn’t look like they had any shot at all of being competitive against the NC State Wolfpack Saturday afternoon. McKenzie Milton looked like he hadn’t played since the Louisville game, and the Noles were missing Dillan Gibbons on the offensive line.
It was a combination of bad snaps, the offensive line failing to block, and no run-game whatsoever. As I mentioned in the immediate post-game write-up, the defense is the only reason it wasn’t a blowout at halftime.
The defense also did themselves no favors by allowing long touchdown passes because of poor tackling. I know people want to fire Adam Fuller, but he can’t make the tackles for players. All he can do is put players in a position to make plays, and they were there for the most part.

One criticism could be certain players are still receiving playing time, but the other question would be, who would you replace them with that’s better?
There are a lot of knee-jerk reactions from fans, but it was a game FSU was not favored to win even with Jordan Travis as the starting quarterback. That’s progress, considering NC State rolled FSU last season with a quarterback that’s not as good as the one they have now.
There were some solid adjustments from the offense in the second half, but they don’t have enough firepower to overcome poor field position and long third-downs consistently.
Let’s take a look at my three takeaways from the game.
