Disciplined Football

I know I mentioned physicality, but that doesn’t mean committing dumb penalties like hitting guys while they are out of bounds or roughing the quarterback.

Thankfully, FSU has cleaned up most of those dumb penalties over the past few games, as they are among the least penalized teams in the nation in that stretch.

The other facet of discipline I’m referring to is not playing hero ball. I need each player to execute their job on the play at hand and not worry about what someone else has to do, especially on defense.

I need the linebackers to fill the right gaps and for the defensive line to be alert when they get pressure too easily when Clemson goes to their screen game. They HAVE to make tackles when the opportunity presents itself.

I need the players in the secondary to execute their role and communicate to avoid any blown coverages.

This game is one in which they need to make Clemson’s offense earn everything they get. Offensively, Jordan Travis needs to take what’s there and not try to force anything that could result in a turnover.
