FSU football vs. UMASS Minutemen: Best bets for Saturday afternoon
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU UNDER Points Total
The UMASS defense is the third-worst defense in college football. I expect FSU to score north of 30 points, but I believe they’ll begin to play some of their younger players early to get them some experience.
They’ll also want to protect their starters from injury once the game is in hand with Clemson on deck next week. That means we’ll likely see Chubba Purdy or Tate Rodemaker playing quarterback at some point.
Those guys are talented, but I don’t expect them to march the ball up and down the field, even against UMASS. I also expect the Noles to run the ball quite a bit, which keeps the clock moving.
We also have to account for the typical slow start from the offense, not to mention they haven’t played in nearly two weeks. It could take 1-2 series before they start clicking and scoring points.
UMASS runs the ball slightly more than throwing, so the clock will be moving when they have the ball as well. That means potentially 1-2 fewer possessions in the game.
I’d suggest taking FSU under 47.5 points total at -110.
