FSU football vs. UMASS Minutemen: Best bets for Saturday afternoon
By Kelvin Hunt
UMASS Total Points
UMASS comes into the game averaging 16.7 points, and FSU football allows an average of 30.3. However, the FSU defense does seem to be finding itself in the last couple of games.
My concern in this game is two-fold. Will the defense start the game focused, with a noon start time and not playing a game for nearly two weeks? If FSU does build a large lead and place reserve players in the game, will those reserves allow a cheap touchdown late in the game?
All UMASS needs to do is score two touchdowns or a touchdown and two field goals to win this bet. The FSU offense finally went a game without turning the ball over in their last outing.
However, they could turn it over and give UMASS a short field. FSU is good for at least one blown coverage for a touchdown nowadays as well.
UMASS scored 28 points against Boston College in their second game this season. Boston College’s defense is worse than FSU’s, but it’s still worth noting.
I’d take UMASS over 12 points at -110.
