FSU football vs. UMASS Minutemen: Best bets for Saturday afternoon
By Kelvin Hunt
First Half Spread
FSU football hasn’t gotten off to the best of first-half starts this season. The Noles have typically been better in the second half of games, and who knows how rusty they will be after not playing a game for nearly two weeks?
Can we trust this team to flip a switch and roll through UMASS the way they should? I mean, I know UMASS is an atrocious team, but +22.5 is a lot of points for a team still learning how to win.
If the score at halftime were 24-3, UMASS would cover the first-half spread. The UMASS offense is abysmal as they rank as the second-worst offense in college football, but all it takes is 1-2 busted coverages in the secondary, and they could score a touchdown.
I don’t know if I can trust the FSU defense enough to shut a team down yet.
They held a potent UNC offense to 10 first-half points, but they are going to have to show me they can handle success before I’m officially a believer.
I’d take UMASS +22.5 at -110 in the first half.
