No. 1 player in the 2022 recruiting class Travis Hunter Jr., can’t do much without everyone wondering what he’s doing. FSU’s top commitment for the 2022 recruiting cycle and No. 1 player in the nation has been a recruit that moves the needle, unlike anyone I’ve seen in recent years.

Travis Hunter Jr. committed to the Noles in March 2020 and has been the loudest advocate for Mike Norvell and FSU since.

He’s one of the main reasons the Noles have held a top 10 recruiting class for much of this recruiting cycle and has never wavered on his commitment, despite the Noles getting off to an 0-4 start.

A trip to Georgia(his home state) a couple of weeks ago seemed to fan the flames of him possibly wavering on his commitment. He publically stated he was firm to the Noles after the visit and was on IG live with FSU player Jarvis Brownlee after FSU upset North Carolina last week.

The word broke he would visit Georgia again this week, and the rumor mill began to swirl again about the status of his commitment, and Travis Hunter Jr. once again reaffirmed his commitment:

Thoughts

Travis Hunter Jr. suffered an injury the night before he visited Georgia a couple of weeks ago. It’s an injury that will sideline him for several weeks, and Georgia’s campus isn’t too far away from his house.

It’s certainly not a good look in this situation because it could appear what everyone considers your strongest commit is looking at other schools. Other recruits could see that and decide they will visit other schools as well.

However, I’m sure Hunter Jr. communicates with the FSU football staff about his visitation plans. It’s likely how he got the graphic to post so fast on Friday afternoon. However, I can understand a player of his caliber enjoying the recruiting process.

It’s not like he hasn’t visited FSU a gazillion times over the past year and a half and helped the coaching staff a ton when it comes to recruiting. It’s not often one is considered the best overall recruit in the nation, so I can’t fault Hunter Jr. for wanting to visit a place like Georgia when it’s so close, especially when he can’t play because of an injury.

It’s not like he’s set up five official visits or anything. He has done nothing but represent Nolenation 100 percent since he committed, and take him at his word that he’ll sign with FSU during the early signing period and enroll in the spring. He has quelled every rumor with a clear statement each time the rumor mill gets going, and that’s all one can expect with someone in his position.
