Syracuse scored another touchdown on their next possession after their first touchdown to take a 13-9 lead with just over two minutes remaining.
The Noles knew they would get the ball first in the second half and knew the importance of trying to score before halftime.
FSU football had the aid of a couple of Syracuse penalties, but it Treshaun Ward and Camren McDonald that got the Noles in scoring position. Jordan Travis hit Keyshawn Helton with a rocket 14-yard pass to take a 16-13 lead with 36 seconds left before halftime.
The FSU defense gave everyone a scare as Syracuse moved down the field quickly before launching a Hail Mary the defense intercepted as time expired.
It was a big momentum boost to have the lead at halftime after giving up the lead right before that. It also put the Noles in a position to double-up since they got the ball first in the second half.
