FSU football: 8 players deserve Tomahawk Stickers for Notre Dame game
By Kelvin Hunt
Robert Cooper, Quashon Fuller, Keir Thomas, Fabien Lovett
I put all of these guys together because everything they did in the game doesn’t show up in the stats.
The defensive line might have been the most impressive unit on the field Sunday night. They consistently got pressure on Notre Dame’s Jack Coan, sacking him four times as a unit.
That’s more than FSU’s defensive line had in any game last year. These four players accounted for 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks, and three tackles for loss.
They helped hold the Notre Dame rushing attack to 73 yards and a 3.35 average yards per rush. We had heard Quashon Fuller flashed at practice, but his back-to-back tackles for loss in the third quarter were eye-opening.
Keir Thomas looked the part on the edge, and Robert Cooper and Fabien Lovett gave the defensive line what we wanted to see. That’s disrupting things up the middle and penetrating to allow the linebackers to clean things up.
If these guys can bring this level of play every week, the FSU defense will be much better than last year.
