The number of 2022 FSU football recruiting targets and commits visiting for the Notre Dame game is impressive. It will be a who’s who list with several top 100 players in attendance.

It’s a gamble the coaching staff is willing to take, and I wrote about why it’s well worth the gamble a few weeks ago.

It will be a great opportunity to show what Doak Campbell Stadium is capable of at night. It’ll also be the only game that day/night airing in primetime on ESPN.

It’s an important game on the recruiting front because it will be an opportunity for FSU football to show improvement on the field. It will be an opportunity to reinforce the message the coaches are telling recruits about the direction of the program.

However, this game could have future ramifications because several players from the 2023 class and beyond plan to be in attendance as well.

One of the newest additions to the coaching staff, Kenyatta Watson, has been putting in work on the recruiting trails:

2023 top 100 player and No. 7 LB from Georgia, Raul Aguirre.

247 Sports No. 3 player overall and No. 1 WR in the 2024 recruiting class from Georgia, Khalil Bolden.

247 Sports No. 51 player overall and No. 2 IOL in the 2024 recruiting class from Georgia, Waltclaire Flynn Jr.

247 Sports No. 27 player overall and No. 4 DT in the 2024 recruiting class from Georgia, Hevin Brown-Shuler.

2023 player and No. 7 safety from Georgia, Terrance Love.

247 Sports No. 7 player overall and No. 1 DT in the 2024 recruiting class from Georgia, Alexander Cunningham.

That’s only a handful of the players on social media that have indicated they plan to attend the game Sunday night.

Impact

We’ve seen the impact of this coaching staff getting players on campus over and over. They land a large percentage of the players they get on campus a couple of times or more. Not only that, but these players are from Georgia where Kenyatta Watson has an extensive network.

The good news is this will be an opportunity to make a strong move with several future recruits who they’ll be counting on to get this program back to elite status.

If the Noles have a good showing on the field Sunday night? That’s going to go a long way in making an impression on these players.
