Freshmen Continuing To Emerge

One thing that’s stood out over the second week of fall camp is the number of freshmen the coaches have mentioned for their play.

Defensive backs Kevin Knowles, Hunter Washington, and Shyheim Brown continue to flash. Darion Williamson and Kentron Poitier have joined Malik McClain and Joshua Burrell as young players showing consistency each day at practice.

Joshua Farmer will likely find himself in the two-deep at defensive tackle, which isn’t common considering his ranking coming out of high school.

Farmer has worked since arriving on campus in January, and the hard work is paying off.

I don’t expect Jordan Eubanks to see the field too much, but he has progressed better in the last couple of months than most people thought. Some fans questioned why the coaching staff accepted his commitment, but that’s why they are fans, and the coaches get paid big money to coach.

Mike Norvell said he expects 5-6 freshmen to become contributors in 2021, which leads me into my second observation.
