FSU football: Big 2022 FSU target Jaleel Skinner hints at commitment soon
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has several high-profile recruiting targets left in the 2022 recruiting cycle. One of those targets is a blue-chip receiver, Jaleel Skinner.
The Noles were trending for Skinner shortly after the NCAA lifted their recruiting dead period as FSU was the first place Skinner visited when the dead period ended.
Skinner visited the Noles in June for nearly a week while hanging out with FSU commits Travis Hunter Jr, AJ Duffy, and Sam McCall. All three of those players rank in the top 100 nationally, and Skinner would make the fourth.
Skinner went on to officially visit Florida, Texas, Alabama, and Miami in June. However, he saved his final official visit for the Noles on September 5 when they take on Notre Dame.
The majority of their 2022 targets will be in attendance, along with a ton of commitments. That could be a good sign after what Skinner tweeted Tuesday afternoon:
The Noles hold 85 percent of the 247 Crystal Ball Predictions. There are 10 predictions, and the only non-FSU prediction is for Clemson, but that prediction was cast nearly a year ago.
Of course, the predictions are not the be-all-end-all when it comes to where a recruit will commit.
I know the coaching staff is one of the few recruiting him strictly as a wide receiver, and he has a great relationship with Mike Norvell and the commits I mentioned previously. Skinner had played 7-on-7 with FSU super recruiting Travis Hunter Jr. this summer.
Another side note is he announced he’d transfer to play his final season at IMG Academy, which is where FSU QB commit AJ Duffy will play his final season.
Could he commit somewhere before visiting on September 5? It’s possible, but if not, I’d have to think the Noles will continue to be the favorite.
Skinner ranks as the No. 73 player and No. 1 tight end nationally. He’s a matchup nightmare at 6’5″ and 210 pounds.
UPDATE:
Jaleel Skinner announced the date he’ll be making his commitment. It’s roughly a month after his official visit to FSU.
