FSU football: 3 defensive players to play attention to in 2021 fall camp
By Kelvin Hunt
Robert Cooper
Where has Robert Cooper been? He’s a senior former blue-chip defensive tackle that seems to have disappeared.
I hardly ever hear Mike Norvell or any of the coaches mention him by name. It’s usually Fabien Lovett who receives the most admiration when coaches are speaking about this unit.
Robert Cooper is one of the most important pieces to this defense. If Lovett plays up to the expectations of the coaching staff and Robert Cooper plays at a high level?
That duo would be one of the more impressive tandems in the ACC. We thought we were going to get that last year with Marvin Wilson and Corey Durden but were sorely disappointed.
Robert Cooper has put in a lot of work to reshape his body after arriving as a freshman north of 350 pounds. Cooper checked in at 338 pounds in the latest weight measurements listed on Seminoles.com.
Listen to see if his name comes up at all during the fall post-practice interviews with the coaches. Let’s see if any of his teammates mention him by name as someone that’s standing out from the crowd.
FSU needs Robert Cooper to have a great senior year to help this defense improve over last year.
Parting Thoughts
The defense has nowhere to go but up. If the defensive line can move the line of scrimmage and get some pressure on the quarterback? That will help the linebackers and the secondary.
If that’s the case? I think the defense will look a lot different in 2021.
