FSU football coaches have a done a great job of addressing roster needs in the 2022 recruiting class. They have addressed QB, OL, DL, TE, DB and have clear targets on other positions.

However, the linebacker position may be the one that requires more clarity as the recruiting cycle continues. Chris Marve got on the board with three-star recruit Omar Graham Jr. in June.

However, the Noles likely need two more players to complete the roster needs at linebacker in the 2022 cycle.

Some of their targets seem to be trending elsewhere, but there was good news Tuesday when ($)Noles247’s Zach Blostein reported a huge target would be visiting FSU again.

That target is Georgia Tech commit Jaron Willis. Willis committed to Georgia Tech on May 1st and officially visited there on June 11th.

However, FSU didn’t concede that battle and brought him in for an official visit on June 25th. It was after that visit that it looked like Willis could begin to lean back towards the Noles.

He was an FSU lean before committing to Georgia Tech, and the issue lies with what position he’ll play in college. Georgia Tech sold him on playing safety, which isn’t realistic when you look at his build and project how he’ll mature once he gets to college.

The Noles want him as a linebacker and said the coaches gave him a lot to think about after visiting FSU in June.

Willis hasn’t posted anything on social media since that visit, nothing pro-Georgia Tech or anything.

The fact FSU coaches will get him on campus again is a good sign. Both schools have already used their official visits, and Willis does have an official visit with Florida scheduled for September 25.

However, that visit may not take place if he flips to the Noles beforehand. The linebacker position is a huge position of need, and Willis called FSU his “dream offer” since he grew up an FSU football fan.

They say follow the visits in recruiting, and the Georgia Tech staff can’t feel great about this news.

If they could flip Willis from Georgia Tech, it would make me feel a whole lot better about that unit going forward.
