FSU football: Top 3 remaining needs in 2022 recruiting class
By Kelvin Hunt
Linebackers
This unit is the one I’m most unsure of at the moment and one that needs a talent infusion. The 2021 recruiting class saw one linebacker, (Jordan Eubanks) join the program.
They have three-star linebacker Omar Graham Jr. committed and will look to take at least two more players to fill out the needs for the position.
They are in the mix for the following players:
- Jaron Willis(Georgia Tech commit): No. 157 player overall
- Wesley Bissainthe: No. 175 player overall
- Daniel Martin: No. 181 player overall
- EJ Lightsey: No. 437 player overall
- Devin Smith: No. 738 player nationally
FSU got Willis on campus for an official visit and seemed to make up ground. The biggest factor is which position he’ll play in college. Bissainthe was in the news for throwing down the U on his FSU visit last month. He’ll officially visit FSU for the Notre Dame game.
Daniel Martin visited FSU last month and will officially visit for the Notre Dame game. The biggest competition seems to come from Vanderbilt and Oregon. Martin officially visited Vanderbilt last month.
EJ Lightsey is a player that might be a little underrated. It’s a battle between Auburn, FSU football, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Georgia Tech.
Smith is a player that’s always liked FSU and visited the Noles last month. He released a top five of FSU, Florida, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Nebraska in December 2020.
Parting Thoughts
As long as the season isn’t a complete disaster, I feel confident about the offensive line and the wide receivers.
The linebacker recruiting board doesn’t seem to be as clear as those two, but at least there are several options for the two spots remaining.
