FSU football head coach Mike Norvell had made all of the right moves this offseason and made one that ignited the fan base even more Tuesday afternoon.

I wrote about the hire of Ryan Bartow months ago and the impact it would have. That impact has come to fruition on several fronts with FSU recruiting.

At the time, some FSU football fans wanted Kenyatta Watson to be hired for that role. Mike Norvell has been doing his homework when looking to make quality additions to the staff and hired Watson Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement came from the FSU football Twitter account:

I got excited when I saw the news, and it’s great to know a lot of the FSU fan base shared the same excitement, especially those that follow recruiting.

Thoughts

This hire is one of the biggest off-the-field additions Mike Norvell could have made. The combination of Ryan Bartow and Kenyatta Watson is a game-changer.

Mike Norvell and the staff were already establishing a foothold in the fertile recruiting grounds of Florida and Georgia. However, the duo of Bartow and Watson makes the probability of landing high-profile blue-chip recruits from both states a reality now.

I’m talking about the type of players that will get FSU football back to an elite level in a hurry. Watson has a massive network and excellent relationships in the Peach State. I’m talking high school coaches, 7on7 coaches, and the folks behind the scenes in dealing with recruits.

FSU is already in the mix for several 2022 recruits and beyond from the Georgia area, and this addition should strengthen FSU’s position with them.

I know some folks were still questioning Mike Norvell, but this move further validates his vision for the future of the program.

Welcome aboard Mr. Watson, and I look forward to the impact he’ll have on the FSU football program.
