FSU football has a lot of recruiting momentum in the class of 2022 with nearly half of its recruiting class complete.

The Noles will likely add another commitment in a couple of hours, but the Noles are pursuing some key recruits to fill in the rest of the linebacker spots.

One of those recruits is three-star EJ Lightsey, who hails from Fitzgerald, Georgia. Mike Norvell and the staff first offered him in December 2020.

Lightsey attended FSU’s camp on June 5th and lists them in his final six schools on Friday. He announced via his Twitter account:

EJ Lightsey checks in at 6’2″ and 210 pounds with 22 offers from places like FSU, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Arizona State, Miami, Auburn, Boston College, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Missouri, NC State, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

Lightsey ranks as the No. 447 player overall, No. 44 linebacker, and No. 42 player in Georgia. There is one 247 Crystal Ball Prediction for Florida with a confidence rating of six.

That prediction came Thursday from a guy that covers the Gators. Of the schools in his final six, Lightsey visited Florida and Auburn unofficially in June.

He officially visited Georgia Tech on June 18 and locked in an official visit with FSU football for the Notre Dame game on September 5.

FSU has one linebacker commitment from Omar Graham Jr. and plans to take 1-2 more linebackers. There are probably a couple of guys ahead of Lightsey on the recruiting board, but he would be a solid get if those options fail to come to fruition.

The Noles have been recruiting Georgia well, with three of their 14 commits in the 2022 class coming from the Peach State.

It’ll be interesting to see how this recruitment plays out. The Notre Dame game will have an electric atmosphere, and we’ll see where FSU stands with the other linebacker targets soon enough.
