Parting Thoughts

Notice I used the work earned and not created momentum in the title of this piece? There is nothing fake about what’s going on in Tallahassee, despite the indirect quote from Manny Diaz a few days ago.

If Manny Diaz could do what the FSU football staff have done with the 2022 class, he would have done it. He wasn’t saying anything when he got lucky his class was full of South Florida players last summer because they couldn’t visit anywhere due to COVID-19.

However, he and many other coaches got complacent because FSU football hasn’t been what it used to be in recent years. They got outworked, plain and simple.

There’s no reason Miami should be ranked No. 58 after one of the best seasons in a decade last year. Dan Mullen dropped the ball as well.

The bad news for them is I believe the foundation FSU coaches have laid with this recruiting class can withstand not winning 7-8 wins for the most part. Sure, there could be a de-commitment here and there because we’re dealing with teenagers.

Heck, Miami just had a de-commitment Monday night. However, unless FSU football looks incredibly worse than last year? This recruiting class will probably hold because it’s built on a solid foundation of trust and family, and not empty promises like the U is back for the past 20 consecutive years. If FSU football looks competent in the fall, and they should for all intents and purposes, and they should with a full offseason, it’s off to the races.
