FSU football hasn’t had a quarterback ranked in the top 100 players in the nation since Malik Henry in 2016.

Mike Norvell and Kenny Dillingham have the Noles in a great position with blue-chip QB commit AJ Duffy. Duffy was the second blue-chip recruit to commit to the coaching staff in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

The other commit, Nicco Marchiol, is no longer in the class, and it looks like Duffy will be the only quarterback they take at this time.

Some FSU football fans are taking a wait-and-see approach with Duffy after Sam Howell and Luke Altmyer spurned the Noles over the past few years.

I can’t blame them, but it looks like AJ Duffy is ready to help bring the Noles back to prominence:

I can’t state the importance of a statement like this. I know things can change at the drop of a dime, but look at how Marchiol was going hard for FSU football before Duffy committed.

Here’s the thing, Marchiol got the ball rolling in recruiting along with Travis Hunter Jr. However, the addition of Duffy gives the coaching staff access to a different tier of talent than Marchiol.

Players know where they’re ranked, and it’s different when the No. 74 player asks you to join him at a program compared to a recruit that’s ranked No. 290.

Duffy is one reason other top 100 players like Jaleel Skinner and Kevin Coleman have FSU firmly in the mix. When I think of recent FSU QB recruits, the only vocal one I can think of was former commit Jeff Sims.

Sam Howell was silent and the same with Luke Altmyer, and we see how those turned out. AJ Duffy is consistent on social media when it comes to promoting FSU football and being vocal about other players joining him in the recruiting class.

Another thing I noticed is the quote implies Duffy will early enroll in January. If that’s the case, that’s a game-changer, as he will push for the starting job as a true freshman.

Duffy has the potential to help bring the Noles back to prominence, and that’s something we haven’t been able to say for a while.
