How much can McKenzie Milton improve before Notre Dame?
By Kelvin Hunt
McKenzie Milton came to Tallahassee to help the Noles win football games in 2021. He can do that both on and off-field because he’s been in a similar situation at UCF.
He knows what it takes to pick yourself up off the canvas as a program and have a belt wrapped around your waist as champion.
Milton provides much-needed depth and experience in a room full of young players. Will Milton secure the starting job before the opener against Notre Dame?
Maybe? Milton began to show signs of life towards the end of spring camp after struggling early.
Milton struggling shouldn’t have been a surprise because he’s learning a new offense and hasn’t played competitively in two years.
I don’t want to put too much stock into the spring game, but Milton showed some flashes with throws we haven’t seen completed since Jameis Winston was under center.
Those passes are something opposing defenses haven’t had to worry about in a long time, not to mention the threat of intermediate passes over the middle. The key for Milton is consistency. How much can he improve between now and the opener against Notre Dame?
