FSU basketball (16-6, 11-4 ACC), fresh off their ACC Tournament loss against Georgia Tech Saturday night, is a No. 4 seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

The Noles will take on No. 14 seed UNC-Greensboro (21-8) in the first round. One would think FSU has had enough of dealing with teams out of North Carolina.

They have played North Carolina three times, NC State, and now face the Spartans who play in the Southern Conference. Former North Carolina guard Wes Miller is their head coach.

UNC-Greensboro won their regular season and tournament conference, and it’s their first time in the NCAA Tournament since the 2017-18 season.

The Noles limp into the NCAA Tournament with a 2-3 record in their last five games (not counting the Duke cancellation).

Those losses came against North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech. FSU basketball has been a tale of two teams this season, and ironically, FSU basketball fans can usually tell which team shows up in the first few minutes of the game.

FSU has been dreadful with turnovers in their last five games and set an ACC Tournament record with 25 against Georgia Tech Saturday night.

I don’t want to sound any alarms, but UNC-Greensboro averages 7.5 steals per game this season. FSU should win the game, but man, there’s no way to tell how this team will play based on what they’ve shown as of late.

Parting Thoughts

The Spartans only have one player averaging in double figures, but they have nine players averaging over nine minutes per game.

They don’t shoot the ball particularly well and only shoot 30 percent from three-point land and 68 percent from the free-throw line.

UNC-G does rebound well at nearly 40 rebounds per game, with 49 percent of them coming on the offensive end.

If the Noles win this matchup, they’ll take on the winner of Colorado/Georgetown in the second round.
