Parting Thoughts

Special team are an area where FSU could steal a couple of games if it’s an area they can show improvement.

There are tons of hidden yards lost and gained with good special teams’ play. That’s one reason why punter Alex Mastromanno got so much praise from me last year.

He hardly ever allowed teams to return punts and averaged over 43 yards per punt. If the Noles can improve in the kickoff and punt return games, that would take some pressure off the offense.

It’s easier to go 65 yards for a touchdown when the drive can begin at your 35-yard line after a kickoff.

What about returning a punt 12 yards and giving the offense the ball at their 32-yard line instead of inside their 20-yard line or fair-catching it at the 15-yard line?

How many times did missed field goals signal a loss of confidence and allow the opposing team to score a touchdown on their ensuing possession?

I look for this unit to be a strength in every aspect in 2021.
