FSU football: Noles offer 2022 defensive tackle Bishop Thomas
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches continue to evaluate recruiting prospects for the best fit for the program.
The Noles have sent out nearly 300 offers to 2022 prospects, but continue to unearth players they believe could be positive additions to the team.
The newest offer goes to a 2022 defensive tackle prospect from Orlando, Florida, by the name of Bishop Thomas.
Thomas announced the offer via his Twitter account late Thursday night:
Thomas doesn’t have a composite ranking or any ranking I can find anywhere but has offers from FSU, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, and other small schools, according to 247Sports.
Thomas checks in at 6’2 and 285 pounds and hails from Bishop Moore Catholic High School. Pittsburgh and Penn State were the first schools to offer on December 14. Offers from FSU and Texas came Thursday, and Bud Elliott promptly issued a 247 Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in favor of the Noles with a four confidence rating.
Most recruiting sites are well behind in their rankings because they have not had a chance to evaluate most of these players over the last year due to the pandemic. It’ll be interesting to see where Thomas rates when the next round of evaluations comes.
If you’re an avid reader of the site, you know I’m eagerly awaiting to see how the Noles address the need at defensive tackle. It’s a position multiple coaching staff failed to address with blue-chip level players recently. I expect the Noles to take multiple players at the position with the possibility of losing several players after the 2021 season.
It’ll be interesting to see if more offers begin to pour in for Thomas after the Noles. The one highlight tape I saw shows him displaying a good motor and the ability to get penetration at the line of scrimmage.
