FSU football will look to the transfer portal to speed up the rebuild process.

FSU football is looking to rebuild its roster after several players have either been dismissed, entered the transfer portal, or declared for the NFL Draft.

There are 13 of the 21 signees from the 2018 recruiting cycle who are no longer with the team, which has contributed to FSU being well below the 85 roster limit.

The FSU roster is young, and the FSU coaches will be quick to say that in recent interviews.

However, they are truthful, as the majority of the players getting snaps are freshmen and sophomores.

I wrote about their recruiting strategy a couple of days ago. They are trying to get the best players possible out of high school but are also looking to take several players from the transfer portal or JUCO ranks to be more competitive in 2021.

They’ve already signed two players from the transfer portal in quarterback McKenzie Milton and cornerback Jarques McClellion, and I expect them to address other positions of need via that method as well.

They need an experienced wide receiver, defensive end, offensive tackles, and possibly a running back.

College football players are entering the transfer portal at a blistering pace, and FSU football fans want every player that was either a blue-chip recruit or put up nice stats at another Power-Five program.

However, there’s more to recruiting the transfer portal than rankings and stats. Here’s why properly evaluating players in the transfer portal is important for the FSU coaching staff.
