FSU football has some momentum on the recruiting trails for the 2021 recruiting class.

FSU football added an addition to its 2021 recruiting class Sunday with Arkansas transfer cornerback Jarques McClellion.

He is the 19th commitment for the class that’s ranked No. 22 in the nation. There has been a lot of debate on social media regarding how the Noles are recruiting this year.

A year unlike any other due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some fans believe the class isn’t good because of the ranking, although the Noles haven’t finished in the top 10 ranking since 2017.

The 2018 FSU class finished at No. 11, but 14 of those 21 commits have left, never contributed, or have had a minimal impact since their arrival.

The 2019 class finished No. 18 but didn’t sign a quarterback or a single offensive skill player, which has caused several roster issues.

Rankings can be fool’s gold, especially if roster needs aren’t met,or players aren’t developed. Another example of fool’s gold is the Jimbo Fisher recruiting classes from 2014-2016.

The Noles finished with the No. 4, No. 3, and No. 3 recruiting classes in those years and have had three or more losses in every season since 2015.

Rankings are done differently now with the transfer portal, so let’s take a look at how FSU football is recruiting and why.
