FSU football will not play for the second consecutive week.

FSU football had a great run with avoiding COVID-19 issues. Mike Norvell tested positive for the virus in mid-September and had to miss coaching the Miami game.

However, their luck seems to have run out with back-to-back weeks of having games postponed.

In case you have been under a rock, the game with Clemson was postponed because they brought a player that tested positive for the virus on the trip to Tallahassee after practicing with the team that week.

FSU football medics didn’t feel like it was safe to play, and the game was postponed. There were rumblings of a few Nole players not being available for the game against Virginia, but the thought process was there would be enough players available to play the game.

"The rescheduling follows positive tests, subsequent quarantining, and contact tracing within the Florida State football team."

Thoughts

First of all, I hope the players infected recovery quickly with no complications. It’s a tough break for FSU football and the Virginia Cavaliers as Virginia had already traveled down to Tallahassee to play the game.

The players will miss out on the experience and valuable reps needed to improve. The fans that traveled and spent money will miss out on the experience. FSU administration will miss out on much-needed money for the program.

It just goes to show no matter how careful the virus can spread rapidly and quickly. I know FSU football goes above and beyond the minimum protocols set by the ACC Conference, and it’s why they’ve done so well with keeping players and coaches safe.

It’s doubtful this game will be made up since Virginia already has a game scheduled for December 12 from an earlier postponement.

Here’s to hoping everyone recovers and they’ll be able to play the game against Duke next week. Enjoy your Saturday ladies and gentlemen and be safe!
