FSU Basketball: Noles shine in 2020 NBA Draft review
FSU Basketball sees two more players drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft
FSU Basketball keeps on collecting accolades on its path to becoming one of the elites in college basketball. On Wednesday night, FSU saw two of their stars get taken in the lottery (the 14 teams who did not make the playoffs).
Patrick Williams, a freshman SF who came off the bench as the sixth man, came off the board first at pick four to the Chicago Bulls. It didn’t take long for the next Nole to come off the board as SG Devin Vassell was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the eleventh pick. Vassell was the go-to scorer for the FSU hoops team this past year and is viewed as a solid three-and-d player at the next level.
These young men join the likes of Jonathan Isaac, Malik Beasley, Mfiondu Kabengele, Chris Singleton, Charlie Ward, Bob Sura, Toney Douglas, Al Thornton, Doug Edwards, Sam Cassell, George McCloud, Mitchell Wiggins, and Dave Cowens as Seminoles who were drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft. Along with that, Patrick Williams tied Dave Cowens as the highest FSU basketball draft pick ever (Cowens – fourth 1970, Williams – fourth 2020).
Patrick and Devin ended up in perfect situations. Whether the fans of that team agree with me or not remains to be seen. What will these guys bring to their respective franchises? Do they mesh well? What role do we see them playing? Will coaching play a factor? All these questions race through the minds of basketball fans on draft night. Well, let’s find out.
