FSU football took to the field as double-digit underdogs against NC State.

I went into the FSU football game fully expecting the Noles to lose against NC State. NC State isn’t a good team, but I had seen nothing the past two weeks that would allow me to think otherwise.

Devontay Love-Taylor, FSU’s best offensive lineman was out, and the Noles were starting a freshman QB on the road in his first career start.

Chubba Purdy is learning the FSU offense on the fly behind a patchwork offensive line.  I wrote the three things I needed to see from the team instead of writing a game preview because I felt those things were more important for the future of the program.

Here are the three things I needed to see:

  • Young Wide Receivers Stepping Up
  • Chubba Purdy Progression
  • Overall Effort/Not Quitting

If you’re interested in what I thought about the game itself, you can read my instant reaction here. I’m still confused by a few things Mike Norvell is doing, mainly with the quarterbacks and going for it on fourth down deep in their territory.

I guess it’s full-on getting reps however you can, but then that’s why I don’t understand why we see so much wildcat when the game was out of hand.

Anyway, here are my three takeaways from the game.
