FSU football is experiencing what’s necessary for a true rebuild.

The questions began for FSU football after the opening season loss against Georgia Tech. More questions came after the blowout loss against Miami.

How long would it before players began to opt-out of the season while playing on a team that looked terrible on the field?

Some players looked as if they were playing half-heartedly, some were playing while hurt, and some looked to be playing while trying not to get hurt.

FSU football head coach Mike Norvell announced that several players were leaving the program or would miss the remainder of the season due to injury:

Thoughts

It’s highly unlikely senior Marvin Wilson will suit up in the garnet and gold again, as he could have left for the NFL Draft after last season. It’s unclear what will happen with graduate transfer Devontay Love-Taylor, but he would be a welcome addition to next year’s offensive line as he was the best player in that unit this season.

Tamorrion Terry lost his grandmother right before the Georgia Tech game and played hurt in every game this year. It’s admirable he tried to play against Pittsburgh after having a knee procedure a couple of weeks ago.

It’s unclear if he’ll enter the NFL Draft or the transfer portal. I give all respect to James Blackman, who was dealt a bad hand during his time with FSU football. He at least will graduate and have an opportunity to continue his career elsewhere. He’s the epitome of class and character.

The news shouldn’t come as a surprise if you’ve been following the program at all. It’s what’s best for the program in the long run, with Devontay Love-Taylor being the biggest loss.

Neither Wilson nor Terry has had the impact fans expected when they announced they’d be returning in 2020.  Granted, Terry has been hurt, but wish the best to all parties involved.
