Former FSU star Dalvin Cook might be the best running back in the NFL.

FSU football fans knew how great Dalvin Cook was when he left the Noles early to enter the NFL Draft. I wrote about how he should have been the first running back taken that year over Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey.

Granted, McCaffrey has shined as one of the best running backs in the league. It seems the 2020 season is Dalvin Cook’s turn to show how great he can be.

Cook has a career year in 2019 with highs in rushing yards and touchdowns, but he’s already exceeding those projections in 2020.

He added a hefty sum to those totals Sunday against the Detroit Lions as he rushed for 206 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns.

He also added two receptions for 46 yards in the passing game with the Minnesota Vikings their last two games. There’s no coincidence those to wins came with Dalvin Cook returned to the lineup after missing one game due to injury.

His last two games have been ridiculous, with 52 carries for 369 yards(7.09 ypc) and five touchdowns. He has added four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown through the air too.

I know that’s right! That last touchdown run looks like shades of Dalvin Cook going against Clemson, Miami, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Florida, or I could keep going? Cook signed a huge extension before the season, and it looks like he is earning every bit of that paycheck through six games.

He’s projected to surpass all of his career numbers from a season ago, and he could help lead Minnesota back to the playoffs for the second straight season.

He’ll face one of his toughest games next week as the Vikings travel to take on the Chicago Bears, but it’s great to see an FSU player so loved playing so well in the NFL.
