FSU football put in a better performance in South Bend than the last time they traveled to face Notre Dame in 2018. Fans react to the ‘Noles performance.

FSU football has at least found some answers on offense with Jordan Travis at quarterback. However, the defense is arguably the worst FSU defense I’ve ever seen.

The Noles started the game well, forcing Notre Dame to turn the ball over and capitalizing with a field goal to take a 3-0 on their first possession.

That wouldn’t last long as Notre Dame gave the ‘Noles defense a taste of what was to come by breaking off huge runs on the ground to take a 7-3 lead.

Notre Dame scored on their next possession with a 46-yard touchdown by Kyren Williams. That was the moment I asked if the team was going to lay down like a wet t-shirt, but the FSU offense answered with a touchdown off of Notre Dame’s miscue field a punt.

FSU’s defense luckily forced a three-and-out, and the Noles offense took its second lead of the game on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Travis to Tamorrion Terry.

The Fighting Irish answered with a touchdown drive on their next possession to take a 21-17 lead and scored another touchdown to go up 28-17.

However, the FSU football offense continued to show poise and answered with a field goal to make it 28-20 with 1:17 remaining in the half.

FSU decided to kick the kickoff short and gave Notre Dame great field position, and they proceeded to score a touchdown before the half to make it 35-20 at halftime.

The good news is, the Noles didn’t fold and took their opening possession down for a touchdown but Tamorrion Terry dropped the two-point conversion to make it 35-26.

Thoughts

FSU’s defense couldn’t get a stop when it mattered, and that was the difference in the game. The offense isn’t a fluke with Jordan Travis at quarterback, and those guys competed for the entire game.

The offense was on Notre Dame’s five-yard line in the fourth quarter, with the chance to make it a one-score game.

That is what progress looks like on offense, but I’m not sure what’s going to help the defense. The final score was 42-26 and the Noles covered the betting spread.
