FSU football continues to look for quality players in its 2021 recruiting class. They added a major target Thursday night on the defensive line.

FSU football received its 17th commitment in the 2021 class Thursday night when four-star defensive end Shambre Jackson announced his commitment for the Noles.

It had been a long time coming as Jackson had been projected to be a part of the class for quite some time.

Not only that, he helps fill a huge need in the class at defensive end, and may eventually be able to help in the trenches inside depending on how he develops.

Jackson is considered the No. 223 player overall, No. 17 strong-side defensive end, and the No. 31 player in the state of Florida.

Jackson has 34 offers from the likes of FSU, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Pittsburgh, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and other smaller schools.

He checks in at 6’2″ and 230 pounds and hails from Boone High School in Orlando, Florida. He was primarily recruited by Odell Haggins, John Papuchis, and FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller.

It’s a huge win for the coaching staff to land Jackson after putting so much time and effort into his recruitment, especially considering they were battling teams like Alabama.

One of the biggest problems on the 2020 FSU defense is the lack of pass rush and overall ability to create havoc in the trenches. Shambre Jackson should help to eventually address that concern as he develops in the strength and conditioning program.

The Noles still need one or two true defensive tackles in this recruiting class and may look to the transfer portal to address that need too.
