FSU football: 3 performance goals for Noles against Jacksonville State
By Kelvin Hunt
Offense Score 35 points or more
We’ve seen the offense execute well on about three drives this season. They’ve looked good on both of their opening drives against Georgia Tech and Miami, and they look good in their third-quarter opening drive against Miami.
However, other than that, it’s been a comedy of errors, penalties, negative plays, and turnovers.
The offense is averaging 4.1 yards per play, and there seems to be no chance of explosive plays through the air.
The wide receivers haven’t been able to get open when the offensive line gives the quarterback time to throw, or the drop the pass.
Aside from the pass from James Blackman to Camren McDonald to set up the first TD against Georgia Tech, all of the other explosive catches have been screenplays if I remember correctly.
Will the Noles finally be able to run the ball for a change? Lawrence Toafili did look good in garbage time against Miami’s second string, and Jashaun Corbin has looked decent in limited duty.
The offense has had three turnovers in both games this year. Can they finally play a clean game on offense? Can they avoid having more than 3-4 tackles for a loss?
I need to see improvement in all of these areas against Jacksonville State for any hope of things getting better this season.
