FSU football head coach Mike Norvell is known for being a stickler for details. FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham confirms it’s true.

FSU football suffered from a variety of issues over the past few seasons. One of the largest culprits was the lack of organization.

The issue came across on multiple fronts like social media, travel arrangements, coordination of the offense and defense, game planning, and so on and so on.

The search committee and the ability to be detailed and organization are one of the things that helped Mike Norvell stand out as administration was going through the hiring process late last year.

We’ve seen evidence of it already with social media, practice schedules, and recruiting. However, FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham hit the nail on the head during Monday’s press conference when talking about the importance of being organized:

Thoughts

He’s right here. Have you ever had a teacher that seemed confused or unorganized? Didn’t that immediately make you unsure of them?

Now, imagine an entire coaching staff that didn’t agree on things or didn’t seem to trust what another coach was saying.

That’s the situation many of the players on this roster have dealt with over the past 2-3 seasons. How could they trust themselves to make the right play or call when they were not sure the coach knew if it was the right call?

I’m sure every coaching staff has their disagreements, but at the end of the day, all of the coaches to be on the same page. It all starts at the top with the head coach, and if he appears organized and competent, it’ll filter down to the rest of the coaching staff.

If it doesn’t? It’s up to the head coach to hold that coach accountable and or make a change to alleviate the problem.
