FSU football: Fans react to announced game with Jacksonville State
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has a full slate of games again with the announcement of Jacksonville State replacing Samford on the 2020 schedule.
FSU football lost its second game of the season when Samford’s conference decided to cancel their season this fall.
We proposed some teams we’d like to replace them on the schedule, but in the end, it looks like the Jacksonville State Gamecocks is the team that’ll officially join the lineup.
The Gamecocks play in the Ohio Valley Conference and finished the 2019 season (6-6).
The two teams have history, last meeting in 2009 with the Noles scoring a rushing touchdown in the final minute of the game to avoid a disastrous loss.
The game will take place on October 3, which means the Noles will have a bye week on September 19 when they were originally scheduled to take on Samford.

Thoughts
It’s a game the Noles should win just like the Samford game. I not a fan of losing the bye week before the Notre Dame game, not that I think it would help the Noles win. I’d rather the team get to play games the first two weeks since we have no idea what will happen with COVID-19.
The more games they can play, the better. However, it does give the Noles a bye week before the Miami game, which is nice. It would allow the Noles an opportunity to allow any bumps and bruises to heal while being able to gameplan solely for the Canes.
Also, playing Jacksonville State before the Notre Dame game is a nice way to get some work in before traveling to South Bend.
I would have preferred to play someone like South Florida, but I suppose we can’t be too picky as long as we’re getting to see the Noles in action.
