First Four Weeks

September 5-BYE WEEK- An extra week to prepare. This bye week is vital to starting the season strong.

September 12– Georgia Tech- W- This is a more welcome addition to the 2020 schedule. They are a young team in the middle of a scheme change on a massive scale. They are still transitioning from the triple option to a more typical pro-style and are trying to infuse the team with young talent, and because of that, I can see them being a factor in the ACC in a couple of years but not in a month. FSU wins 35-14.

September 19-Samford-W- Keeping this game was essential. I think in this situation, it is so important to start strong and start fast. This Samford matchup is our only out of conference game. Having a cupcake to beat on early and gain momentum heading into a big rivalry is enormous; having that confidence in a new offense and defense going into Miami is monumental and was missing for three years. This fixture is a clear cut win, and it can make things going into Miami hairy for the home team. FSU wins 42-7.

September 26– Miami- W- You read that right. I’m calling it right now, AN FSU WIN IN THE HARD ROCK! (God this will make Twitter go crazy). Offenses will struggle; I feel like that won’t be so profound. Miami has a new quarterback who is talented, without a doubt, but the new defensive scheme we have is exciting, and I think they cancel each other out. We have a new running back and offensive system, and they have a strong defense themselves. This game will be low scoring, and if it’s bad enough, we can see what Chubba Purdy can do earlier than we think. We will have strong momentum from being 2-0 for the first time in what feels like decades and can make things complicated and come out on the other side 3-0. FSU wins 17-16.
