FSU football could be changing the name of its football stadium in the future. Here are my top two names to replace Doak Campbell Stadium.

I wrote Friday about how former FSU football player Kendrick Scott launched a petition to change the name of Doak Campbell Stadium and renaming the field.

Scott’s goal was 1,000 signatures originally, which was met, and now the goal is 2,500 signatures.

He’d like to see the stadium named after FSU football legendary coach Bobby Bowden and the field named after FSU’s first Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward.

I have no qualms with including Bobby Bowden in the conversation as he’s one of the primary reasons FSU football has the history and prestige of programs much older than the Noles.

I’m not sure I can put support behind a former player having the field named after him unless he or someone paid a large sum of money.

There are too many former Nole greats to choose one player to name the field after. Nevertheless, I’ve been thinking about this and trying to come up with angles that are different than some of the others out there.

Here are my top two names to change the stadium(and field) to if it’s officially decided Doak Campbell Stadium is no more.
