One part of being successful for FSU football is having players do the work in the classroom. It looks like that happened this spring semester.

One thing FSU football did under Willie Taggart was experience improvement off the field with players improving their grades and going to class.

It looks as though that’s continuing in the Mike Norvell era as the team posted a record 3.127 GPA in the spring semester.

Several players took to social media to post their GPA’s to show the hard work they’ve put it.

It’s also a way to show this new coaching staff is serious about players being student’s first and finding success after football is over.

The coaching staff and players have to control what they can control right now. They can’t practice together, but one thing they all can control is the work they put in the classroom. It’s a great way to find a positive trending in the right direction under a new coaching staff in uncertain times.

I’m sure more players posted their GPA’s on social media, but the ones I did find are a solid mix of older and newer players which suggests overall buy-in into the vision of Mike Norvell and staff.

This is positive news the staff can use in recruiting with parents in terms of how serious the program is about the success of the players on the roster. While they can’t sell progress on the field, one thing they can do is show progress in other important areas like academics.

Another reason this is huge is because of FSU’s low APR score that needs to keep improving from the mess Jimbo Fisher created.

I talked about all the positives from April in my observations with Mike Norvell piece a few days ago. It looks like May already has an early candidate to be featured later this month regarding academics.
