A former Alabama player claims they would have beaten FSU football in 2013 if they hadn’t lost to Auburn on the kick-six play.

FSU football continues to be one of the most disrespected national champs in recent history.

For some reason, former Alabama player Ha Ha Clinton-Dix wanted to claim they would have beaten FSU in the 2013 national championship game if they hadn’t lost to Auburn.

First of all, that’s funny considering Alabama had not one, but TWO losses that year. Of course, SEC folk will claim they didn’t care about playing Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, and that’s why they lost.

Anyway, everyone wants to point to the ACC schedule that year and claim FSU wouldn’t have dominated in other conferences.

However, people love to overlook the fact Alabama played FOUR ranked teams through their conference championship game:

  • No. 6 @ Texas A&M: 49-42 Win
  • No. 21 Ole Miss: 25-0 Win
  • No. 10 LSU: 38-17 Win
  • No. 4 Auburn: 34-28 Loss

FSU football played FOUR ranked teams through their conference championship game:

  • No. 25 Maryland: 63-0 Win
  • No. 3 @ Clemson: 51-14 Win
  • No. 7 Miami: 41-14 Win
  • No. 20 Duke: 45-7 Win

There’s not too much difference there, not to mention FSU football ultimately beat the team (Auburn) who beat Alabama. However, there’re more to it as to why FSU would have rolled Alabama in 2013.

Advanced metrics back it up, and for those that cling to the strength of schedule, these numbers adjust for that too even though it’s clear FSU played similarly ranked teams compared to Alabama.
