Quick Reaction To AJ Lytton Situation

One of the biggest challenges for any new head coach is getting prospetive recruits to see and believe in your vision for the program.

However, more importantly, the coach needs to get the players he inherits from the previous coaching staff to buy-in to his vision too.

Enter the situation with former top 50 recruit and blue-chip defensive back AJ Lytton who was the second-highest rated commit in the 2018 recruiting class.

Lytton’s a talented player who likely could have seen some playing time this season, but wasn’t getting with the program at workouts. Despite not having the best APR score, Mike Norvell wasted no time removing him from the program.

It was a great way to show the rest of the team that not buying into what it takes to accomplish what he vision entails will have you without a spot on the roster.

That’s accountability, having expectations, and making sure they are consistently met while giving a severe consequence if they’re not.
