Former FSU football running back Cam Akers is out to prove a lot of people wrong at the NFL Combine and shows a lot of class in a recent interview.

Cam Akers came to FSU with big shoes to fill when Dalvin Cook left to go to the NFL. Now, Akers is in those same shoes after three years in Tallahassee.

The NFL Combine is underway with players undergoing orientation, testing, and interviews before workouts beginning Thursday.

Cam Akers was recently interviewed by another Seminole in Danny Kanell on CBS Sports. Kanell pointed out the woes of the FSU offensive line during the interview, but Akers showed class by avoiding throwing his teammates under the bus while taking responsibility for his performances.

Thoughts

It’s no surprise Cam Akers took this route as he’s always been a guy that leads by example. He ran incredibly hard in his three years at FSU, and it’s a shame the numbers don’t reflect how hard he played.

He ran for nearly 3,000 yards and averaged 4.9 yards per carrying in his three seasons, and got progressively more productive in the passing game. I don’t see any reason why he can’t be a three-down running back in the NFL.

He’s incredibly fast, hitting a top speed of 22.4 mph in a workout last year. One of the bigger questions going into the combine is what type of 40-yard dash time he’ll run?

When asked about it, Akers projected himself to run around the 4.4 range, which would be faster than any running back at the Combine in 2019.

He’s slated to workout on Friday so be sure to check our Twitter page as we’ll be keeping track of his performance in real-time.
