FSU football has landed most of its2020 recruiting targets on National Signing Day. One of my favorites is linebacker DJ Lundy.

FSU football went into National Signing Day with four uncommitted targets they could sign and my favorite of them all was three-star athlete DJ Lundy.

Lundy hails from Irwin County High School in Ocilla, Georgia, and was choosing between Virginia Tech and Georgia.

He’s the No. 963 ranked player nationally, No. 58 ranked athlete and No. 101 ranked player in the state of Georgia.

Lundy is ranked as an athlete but will play linebacker for the Noles. One of my favorite attributes about Lundy is he is a two-two state champion wrestler that’s extremely physical.  I love the mentality most wrestlers have, and being a two-time champion isn’t anything to sneeze at.

Thoughts

DJ Lundy looks like a college linebacker already, checking in at 6’1 244 pounds. He’s a guy that can contribute on special teams as a true freshman while still trying to learn the defense in his first year.

He’ll never be a great linebacker in coverage, but he will be effective coming downhill and laying the wood in the run game. FSU football has had weak linebacker play the past few years, lacking physicality and a nose for the football.

Lundy is a player than can address those types of issues and also hails from nearby Georgia which could help with recruiting in that state.

As some of the tweets suggest, he’s a dawg and you can never have too many of those on your roster.

The early signing period took a lot of players off the board, but this is a scholarship that isn’t wasted on a body as some coaching staffs like to do.

His mentality and physical nature alone will be a positive for the program.
